Do You Have An Issue With Your Automobile We Can Help With?

So when should you replace that battery?

Most batteries should typically be replaced every 5 years; we test every car that comes in and have found that this time frame is usually the best. Even though there may not be any signs of failure at that age as you are cranking it over, the battery is working just that little bit harder to maintain its cranking output (measured as CCA, or Cold Cranking Amps). This in turn is making the alternator work just a little bit harder to bring that battery back, which creates more tension and drag on the belt, and so on and so forth. This goes down the line, replacing the battery within the proper time frame is more about long term preventative maintenance than anything, well it also saves you from being stuck in the parking lot, of course.

BRAKE PADS

Brake pads convert the kinetic energy of the car to thermal energy by friction. Two brake pads are contained in the brake caliper with their friction surfaces facing the rotor. When the brakes are hydraulically applied, the caliper clamps or squeezes the two pads together into the spinning rotor to slow or stop the vehicle. When a brake pad is heated by contact with a rotor, it transfers small amounts of friction material to the disc, turning it dull gray. The brake pad and disc (both now with friction material), then “stick” to each other, providing the friction that stops the vehicle.

Almost all vehicles have a cooling system of some sort, there are a few different types, but the majority of them are relatively similar. Today we are going to explore three things:

  1. The main purpose of the cooling system.
  2. Some of the major components of the cooling system.

Modern diesel injectors tend to fall into one of two categories, HEUI and Common Rail. HUEI injectors re found on most the 1994 to 2009 Ford diesels and are both electrically and hydraulically activated. The hydraulic portion is actually operated by high pressure oil from the engine supplied by a separate high pressure oil pump, this makes keeping your oil and filters clean extremely important, as well as the use of quality parts while doing so….

Wheel alignment, sometimes referred to as breaking or tracking, is part of standard automobile maintenance that consists of adjusting the angles of the wheels so that they are set to the car maker’s specification. The purpose of these adjustments is to reduce tire wear, and to ensure that vehicle travel is straight and true (without “pulling” to one side). Alignment angles can also be altered beyond the maker’s specifications to obtain a specific handling characteristic. Motorsport and off-road applications may call for angles to be adjusted well beyond “normal” for a variety of reasons.
