Transmission Specialist Langley: 100,000 KM Vehicle Maintenance Schedule

As a transmission specialist in Langley, we understand the importance of maintenance for any vehicle – and especially for those heading into the 100,000km range.

Whether you drive a lot for work purposes, or have invested in a used vehicle that you want to keep in excellent running condition; this is the recommended maintenance schedule once they hit the 100,000 km mark.

Have Your Hoses Checked

Your vehicle’s hoses are responsible for transferring such fluids as…

  • Oil
  • Coolant
  • Power Steering Fluid
  • Brake Fluid
  • …and more

Because rubber can crack and even break, having your hoses checked is of vital importance. And as your vehicle ages and increases in milleage  – the risk of your hoses requiring repair or replacement should be checked and attended to.

Flush and Replace Your Power Steering Fluid

If your steering has begun to feel ‘tight’ while turning, or you are hearing unfamiliar noises while turning the wheel, this may be an indication of low power steering fluid.

Having it flushed and replaced between 80-100k km will keep your steering smooth and your vehicle in proper repair.

Change Your Spark Plugs & Have an Ignition Check Conducted

Your check engine light will be an indicator for many different things – including being an indicator that your ignition system is in need of a check.

As transmission repair specialists in Langley, this can be managed quickly at our shop. As well as having your spark plugs replaced as needed.

Older vehicles tend to be fitted with copper spark plugs which only last around 40,000km. Whereas newer vehicles usually come fitted with titanium spark plugs that can last in excess of 100,000 km.

Lastly – your timing belt should also be checked around the 100k km mark, as failure to do so can be potentially costly to other damage that comes along with it.

Such mileage checks and balances are just guidelines, and is dependent on how and under what conditions you normally drive.
